Stage 2 - What size of conservatory?
This is the major factor in calculating the amount of material required. Measuring the floor area will help us give a quote but please be aware that in order to ensure we supply enough material for the job we may need to over supply which will effect the price. The actual roof area will depend on the design and roof pitch angle – floor area does not take this into account. If you have sought quotations based on floor area they may give you a low quote and you find that you run out of materials or a high quote and you have excess materials. It is best to measure the roof accurately. Also note that floor area quotes from different companies are based on different methods of calculation.
Therefore we offer an alternative of supplying the actual dimensions of the roof. While this will involve more comprehensive measuring it will enable us to give you a more accurate quote.
Please select which method you wish to proceed with.
Floor Area
Please enter all measurements in metres e.g. for 3273 mm input 3.28 metres.
Simply measure at floor level, the maximum internal size of the conservatory wall to wall to give the width (X dimension) and depth (Y dimension) - see diagrams. Please indicate the measurements below (rounding up to the nearest 10cm)
Roof Area
Please enter all measurements in metres e.g. for 3273 mm input 3.28 metres.
Measure the dimensions from the outside of the conservatory. Measure from the middle of the glazing bars and from end to end (see diagram of how to measure). Please enter the maximum dimensions for each of the "panel groups" below – round up to nearest cm.
A conservatory roof is typically made up from a series of rectangular and triangular roof shapes. While individual panels may have an irregular shape they will invariably make up part of a larger rectangle/triangle – see diagrams. When measuring please ensure you are on a stable and safe base and not over reaching – the job will be easier with 2 people.
You will need to measure along the eaves beams (above the window frames) from the centre of the glazing bars or from each end assuming the panel goes to the end of any coverings.
Each 'panel group' will need to be specified (although usually you will find that many of the 'panel groups' are the same dimensions and therefore are easily recorded)
Completing the panel group specification section:
- Click on the box relating to a specific 'panel group'
- Enter the dimensions of the 'panel group' as required and to the nearest cm (see diagrams)
- Move to next 'panel group' box and repeat process
- Repeat until all panel groups are specified.
- Please enter all measurements in metres
Stage 3 - What style of conservatory?
We need to know the type of conservatory you have as this will dictate the amount of solar reflective material required due to the shape and roof pitch.
Please tick the conservatory that most closely matches yours:
Stage 4 - What is the roof material and product required?
This will dictate whether solar inserts, heat reflective sheets, sound reducing sheeets or new replacement panels are required. Please note that if you have a polycarbonate roof where inserts are not feasible as the channels are impossible or very difficult to access please select 'Heat Reflecting / Sound reducing sheets for polycarbonate or glass roofs'. If you have an easy access polycarbonate roof but require the extra 'low noise' benefit offered by the heat reflecting sheets or sound reducing sheets please select 'Heat Reflecting / Sound reducing sheets for polycarbonate or glass roofs' or 'Sound Reducing sheets for polycarbonate or glass roofs'
Glass conservatory roofs can only be upgraded with reflective sheets.
Solar Inserts For Polycarbonate Roofs
What are the dimensions of the roof panel channels?
There are a number of different types of polycarbonate which have various structures and channels. The shape and dimension of those channels will have an effect on the amount of solar insert material required. To ascertain the structure of your polycarbonate roof you will need to remove the end cap and sealer tape, measure the cavity and match to the appropriate diagram below.
Please indicate your polycarbonate roof structure below

Heat Reflecting Sound Reducing Sheets For Polycarbonate Or Glass Roofs
Company Survey or Self Survey
It is important that we have the accurate measurements of each panel so that the heat reflecting / sound reducing sheets can be cut to fit your roof.
There are 2 options:
Self survey
Some conservatory styles are straightforward e.g. lean to or regency, as all the panels are rectangular and these can be relatively easily measured. All we require is the measurements of your existing panels.
If you wish you can measure the width of the panels between the edges of the glazing bar and add 25mm each side. The length can be measured from the reveal (at wall or ridge) to the edge and add 25mm.
If you chose this option, the sheets can be trimmed on site if required. Do not ‘under measure’!
You simply send the dimensions by e mail to email@conservatorycomfort.co.uk or call us on 01603 402464.
We will cut the sheets to the sizes you provide and refunds for incorrect measurements will not be given.
Company Survey – additional cost of £xx
This is recommended where the roof is made up from irregular panels such as triangles and quadrilaterals (Victorian, Edwardian and combination style conservatories) and therefore it is not easy to measure and record. Our surveyors will guarantee that all the sizes are correct. The visit will also provide a good opportunity to advise on installation.
We regret we cannot survey the following areas:
- Scotland, N Ireland, Northern England (postal sectors – NE, CA, SR, DH, DL, TS, LA, YO, HG, BD, BB, PR, FY, HU, DN, LN, HG, LS, HX, OL, BL)
- South West England (postal sectors – TA, EX, TQ, PL, TR)
- West Wales (postal sectors – SA, LD, SY, LL)

Replacement-Panels-For-Polycarbonate-Or-Glass-Roofs
What is the thickness of your current roof?
We manufacture and supply our high performance replacement polycarbonate panels in a variety of thicknesses to ensure they can fit your existing glazing bars. To ascertain the thickness of your polycarbonate roof you will need to remove the end cap and sealer tape, measure the thickness and match to the appropriate dimension below.
We guarantee all the panel sizes are correct. To do this, one of our surveyors will visit your conservatory to make the measurements for you. This will also give you the opportunity to advise you of the exact details of the installation. There is a charge for this.
Arrange for a survey.
Stage 6 - Place Order
Thank you for deciding to use us to supply your solar control products. Before ordering it is worth noting that the price will usually be lower if you have provided roof area measurements rather than just floor area measurements.
